Bentley To Focus On Developing The Bentayga

With the Bentayga making up 50% of Bentley’s sales according to Hallmark, it is worth noting that it is already the best selling vehicle in the history of the company - which is particularly impressive considering it was only released in 2016.

In an industry that is heavily dominated by the recent SUV craze, it will probably come as a surprise to most that Bentley have stated they have no current plans to expand their SUV range beyond the Bentayga and will instead focus on developing it.

While there had previously been talk of a second SUV model to be introduced below the Bentley Bentayga, President and CEO of Bentley, Adrian Hallmark, has confirmed that no such plans currently exist. Speaking to Carsales following Bentley’s 100th anniversary celebration at Crewe in July of this year, Hallmark stated that the plan is to “groom and improve” the Bentley Bentayga, stating “we’ll improve it through technology. We haven’t even scratched the surface of its potential.”

With the Bentayga making up 50% of Bentley’s sales according to Hallmark, it is worth noting that it is already the best selling vehicle in the history of the company - which is particularly impressive considering it was only released in 2016. “We did 10,000 sales last year with 50% of our potential range. The cars we are just launching, the new Flying Spur and Continental GT Cabriolet, will add to that. We’ve just gone from a loss-making position to a profitable first half in 2019. That doesn’t happen by luck.”

Whilst Hallmark wouldn’t go into any specific detail regarding how Bentley plan to develop and improve the Bentayga further in the coming years, the plans for the Bentayga’s future sound promising to say the very least. He did also confirm that the British car company is currently working on their first ever battery-electric production vehicle. With every intention to have this new model on the road before 2025, he then went on to say they will try to launch the model before 2025 if they think it is possible.
