How Are Cars Tested For Safety

All safety information below is from EURO NCAP

Introduced in 2009, the EURO NCAP is an assessment that is based on four key areas. These areas are:

Adult Occupant Protection - “determined from frontal impact, lateral impact and whiplash test”
Child Occupant Protection - determined by the “protection offered by the child restraint systems in the frontal and side-impact tests; the vehicle’s ability to accommodate child restraints of various sizes and designs; and the availability of provisions for safe transport of children in the car”
Pedestrian Protection - “how well they protect those vulnerable road users – pedestrians and cyclists – with whom they might collide.”
Safety Assist - “tests to the most important driver assist technologies that support safe driving to avoid and mitigate accidents”
